hey all-

we actually received and email from an angry dad asking us to replace his "reload backpack that he bought for his son from rite aid" because it ripped apart in about a week.

so, yes...the logo is very easily confused by the average consumer, which is the basis for cease-and-desist and an eventual lawsuit. which is currently in the works. the company that makes the bags is in asia, so its not target that is at fault.

anyway, yeah...i guess we've "made it" now that we're getting bootlegged!

That's true, but I never said it did. You're the one who made an ad hominem attack on "hipster jackasses" based solely on the price of a ReLoad backpack. You were trying to suggest that you are superior to them because you wouldn't spend that amount of money on that particular backpack. I was just pointing that out.

Anyway, ReLoad bags are famously well made. They're not indestructible or anything, but they're a damn sight better than anything I've ever seen that's made in China and sold in Target for $23.

And seriously Anon, how do you think Target is able to sell a backpack with "advanced features" for only $23? Wake up, it's made with cut-price, exploitative labour in a Chinese factory, and it's probably made of shoddy quality material. You can look down your nose at the "hipster jackasses" for spending more on a better made bag if you want, but that kinda makes you a bit of a sap. No offence.

Take an honest look at the REload bag and tell me you really want something that poorly sewn and moronically designed. I'm not saying the target bag is good (though I love how you think everything made in China comes from a sweatshop), but the REload is clearly hot garbage, even if it is made by 'Murricans with interesting hair. My point is that if I saw REload make a bag with the advanced features, material choices, and complex construction of the target rig I'd run to the window and look for airborne swine.

A post about possible copyright violation being turned into an anti-hipster rant. It's like how almost any story on a news website will eventually have one comment blaming whatever the article is about, global warming, the price of orange juice, the First World War, on Obama.

Anon, you know why that bag from Target is only $23, or however much it costs? Because it's made from cheap materials, in massive quantities, in a Chinese sweatshop. You might think its a better bag, that it looks better and is more practical than the ReLoad, but I personally think it's hideous, and I bet it lasts one season before all the "features" start to fall off. The ReLoad may be more expensive, but it's handmade, will last a long time, and I think it looks a lot better than the "urban mountaineer" backpack from Target.

Yeah, because people are really going to confuse a $23 bag with modern oversize zippers, an organizer pocket, a cinch strap external mesh pockets for wet or bulky items, water bottle pockets with cinch cords, a centered reflective strip, a padded and ventilated back panel, and ergonomic curved shoulder straps with binding on the wear points with that 1950's cub scout looking rig with the crooked stitching, crappy design, and primitive materials for 3 times as much. REload should sue Target immediately for raising consumer expectations above what hipster jackasses who don't know how to design a bag with modern materials or sew a straight line can produce.

i've been thinking about this a bit more, and i wonder if it's simply a case of a cheap asian supplier ripping off R.E.Load and then an oblivious Target purchasing agent picking them up? either way, it's still grounds for a C&D letter.

not sure if it would matter anyway since anyone who asked their mom for an R.E.Load backpack would probably react in a similar way to the Fresh Prince when he asked for adidas and she bought him Keds
